Muddy Mississippi Blues...

Posted on Sep 13th, 2008 by starlight : StarLight Dancing starlight
Sunset

There's a full moon over Memphis...
I watched the sun go down, on a muddy Mississippi...
Days like this, it's hard to sing the blues...
But i got me a man, don't wanna do me right;
All we do baby, is argue, cuss, and fight,
But like the muddy Mississippi, that man, is gonna...roll on by...

Well you know what they've always, said about home...
Aint no place like it baby once you've had to roam...
And the grass, it aint no, greener than your own...

So I packed up my bags, came on home to Tennessee...

And all my loved ones, who swore that they loved me...

And here I am sittin all alone on the muddy Mississippi...

I got the muddy Mississippi Blues...

Yeah I lonesome; yeah I'm blue...

Aint wastin no more time, crying over old news...

I'm gonna dry my tears, and do the best I can...

Tomorrow's sunset, gonna be on time...

By then I promise baby, I'll be doin fine...

And like a muddy Mississippi, my blues, there gonna roll on by...

hmmmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
hmmmm, hmmmm, hmmmm...
Like a muddy Mississippi, my blues...are gonna roll on by...

There's a full moon over Memphis...
I watched the sun go down, on a muddy Mississippi...
Days like this, it's hard to sing the blues...
But i got me a man, don't wanna do me right;

Excellent. And, very true. Our sorrows and joys are… how does it go… like the passing weather. They are there to be felt, and they will fade away like the clouds or shy away like the sun. All we need to do is wait.

'79 to '85 were my dropout busking years meandering around n. america being a genuine menace to society in a somewhat sannyasin style. completely noncompetitive just living for the moment….me and a friend was a roamin'  around; him a musician and i was a clown; playin the streets for a dollar a day; waiting for a song and a sign to show the way…we headed out west to the mystical land; kinda unexpected didn't quite understand; on a razors edge; on a grain of sand onwards we marched to the gates of oblivion…………
i remember singing those lines alot…anyway, in those heady days we didn't play in clubs; i didn't start doing that until my 30's around 90'. by then i was pretty good and semi-pro and i was still passionate about music, but by 2001 after slogging it out in local bars for 10 years i just became totally disillusioned with the whole toxic scene. and i maintain that the entertainment industry is basically run by sociopaths…….they counter that i am just a cynical failure and was never that good anyway; which only means to me that yes, i was never a great musician, true, but still pretty damn good in and around 95……..sometime in the next year i am going to post everything that i've ever recorded over 20 years…quite a bit of stuff and just leave it on the net for posterity…….maybe when i am dead those assholes will find a way to make money from me!LOL

rotflmao…you are so funny…i love your cynical sense of humor…lol…and i like those lines too…hell, they always talked about me here in Nashville, cause they hated musicians from Memphis…i have a raspy, contralto voice…sang a lot of janis joplin, areatha, stevie nicks…but before i did that, of course i sang country…but i wanted to be cool, so i went my own way trying to fit in…and rocked a little to much…for Nashville, but that was then; it all sounds the same now…i write and sing all kinds of music, but everything i sing is a little bluesy…i am so glad that my friends are all coming tomorrow night, b/c the BlueBird is known for it's country roots mainly…but i am going to rock the joint…i mean really…i get pretty roudy…and since it is a very small venue, and most the people there will probably be my crew…what the hell…i'm gonna do my style, my way…and it is really the Memphis sound…and then the songs are about drugs and alcohol, prostitutes and crack ho's…LOL…but, i hate doing commercial stuff…although i have written lots of it…i was just always to fucked up to care one way or the other about anything but getting fucked up, so i fucked up several recording contracts in the process…go figure…i'd a probably killed myself if i had of gone anywhere…you know how the biz is…but now, i just am doing it b/c i love it…and i want to maybe speak to young people through my songs about drugs and alcohol…but…i'm not expecting anything but to have a lot of fun…but hey, if someone wants to record a song…by all means please do!  LOL…

here some lyrics from 2003…….
even god didn't like to be alone so he made this house and he called it home, then he invited us all out to play and made the sunshine and called it day, but some where down the line something went wrong, i swore i heard an angel singing a mournful song…………….. I FORGET AND REGRET, WHERE I COME FROM I CAN'T SAY YET, LOST IN THIS SEA OF MYSTERY, THIS MISERY WON'T LET ME BE, YEAH WITH THIS AMNESIA I CAN'T GET FREE, WITH THIS AMNESIA I CAN'T GET FREE. once in a while u say u see a light, out there some where in the darkest night. u sense it may be calling u back, u sense it may be what u lack, then u hear that angel singing that song, and it makes u feel that u don't belong………… I FORGET AND REGRET, WHERE I COME FROM I CAN'T SAY YET, ALL I FEEL IS THIS SENSE OF SHAME, BUT I TELL MYSELF THAT I'M NOT TO BLAME, THIS AMNESIA IS SO MUCH PAIN, YEAH THIS AMNESIA IS LIKE ENDLESS RAIN, YEAH THIS AMNESIA IS SO MUCH PAIN, YEAH THIS AMNESIA IS LIKE ENDLESS RAIN! AMNESIA lyrics 2003, andrewmarkmusic………….

ya live in vancouver long enough and a rain theme develops.lol
yeah, i played on the streets in nashville and memphis in the early eighties. the average american's are some of the nicest people i ever met………too bad the military industrial complex hijacked our societies…………
